Bove Sandle has been receiving visions since his mission to the planet Kryth. After that mission, Kryth was approved for colonization and a colony, Sharia, was established. Bove leaves the First Encounter Team and finds himself piloting a starship to make a special delivery. Turns out the delivery puts Bove, and the crew of the Ibex in grave danger
The Kazons, an empire ruling a section of the galaxy close to Kryth, have discovered Sharia and claim Kryth is within their territory. They want Sharia removed. The United Earth Federation (UEF) knows little about the Kazons, so they offer Bove a mission to learn more. He accepts the mission and enlists Stella Thorne, whom he hopes has knowledge of the Kazons. The seemingly simple mission to gather information proves to be more treacherous than Bove, Stella, and the Ibex crew expect.
Bove and the crew of the Ibex are anxious to sell the cesium they obtained for their previous mission. But when the UEF offers Bove a mission to intercede with Sharia’s ruling class to stop them from building a second site, he accepts. A friendly colony with no aliens—should be an easy job, so what could go wrong?

Bleu can influence Katoeans and other animals, a power no one else possesses. She is determined to use her power to help defeat Diamonsteneez, but the rest of the family fears she is too young and inexperienced to be involved. They unite in protecting her from danger. Diamonsteneez is a formidable enemy, and he presents a greater challenge than the royal family first thought
